2012 colors not yet decided for Spyder ???

Have placed an order for V10 Spyder about 4 weeks ago and told it will be part of the 2012 production line. Had requested Daytona pearl grey with black leather interior since color looks great on car and metallic pearl finish is amazing. One week ago told that Audi had dropped grey and brown from 2012lineup and if wanted it would have to pay the extra $3500 for exclusive color. Today being told by dealer that Audi has still not decided on the color lineup for the coming year. Hard to believe that colors have not been formalized with lineup in production. Any thoughts on what is going on..dealer BS or Audi not that organized ?

My 2012 Ibis White 5.2 Spyder is scheduled for production week #24, June13th. According to the 2012 Order Guide I received, with an issue date of April 19, 2011, the standard exterior colors are: Ibis White, Ice Silver Metallic, Jet Blue Metalic, Sepang Blue Pearl Effect and Phantom Black Pearl Effect - that's it! All of the grays, red and brown have been dropped from the standard exterior color list. I'm working with my Dealer and the Audi R8 / A8 team to obtain the new 2012 Audi Exclusive Order Guide but, it is not available yet and no one seems to know when it will be issued. I truly believe that Audi Corp. is holding it up for whatever reasons. My sense is that they are trying to resolve some temporary supply disruptions, resulting from the Japanese earthquake / tsunami, like paint pigments, back-up cameras and ??? I was just informed today by an R8 Team member that Distribution has stated that if I want to change my order, when the new Audi Exclusive Order Guide becomes available, "it will delay my production by at least a couple of months."

I decided to stay with the Ibis White / Black Roof and Black Interior with Lunar Silver Stitching. I'm not willing to go back to the end of the line and wait "at least another two months."

Very nicely optioned, IMO. The white instruments are gorgeous! Saw them on a white Spyder at the Ferrari Club's "Cars on Fifth" in Naples in Feb. I've already put too much into my car now to spend another $1350 or more to replace my standard instruments - plus labor - so gonna live vicariously through you! Which transmission?

After going back and forth a number of times I finally decided on the R-tronic. I test drove a 2011 and the new programming has greatly improved the smoothness of the shifts around town. But, the main reason is that I truly enjoy the faster shifts and control with the paddles when going flat out (which I must admit is not very often).

My big lament is that I have such an awesome driving machine and little opportunity to have some real fun with it. Fast starts from a stop light are a little fun but just don't cut it; but where to find twisties in an unpopulated area is the big question. So far I haven't found any but will keep looking. There's gotta be an abandoned neighborhood somewhere with serviceable roads. I've got some really nice, tight curvy roads on Sanibel but the speed limit is 30 MPH and there are people always out and about on foot, on bikes, etc., so the best I can do is enter a corner w/o applying the brakes and power through to the next turn w/o making too much noise or going too fast. Close, but no cigar.

Plenty of twisties in North Carolina. Would think that your other home in VT would give you some challenging roads.
