Hardwired passport 9500ix tapping into radio fuse but won't turn off- errrrr

Last week I installed a passport 9500ix and hardwired it into my new r8. I used a kit from radar Roy. It isn't the mini but it looks like this but with ATF fuses.

Anyways the bummer is it doesn't turn off like my radio does. I know I used the radio because when I took out the fuse the radio was dead. I added this in the slot, add the 20 amp radio fuse and then added a 5 amp for the detector and wired it up.

Radio turns off after ibpull the key but the detector is still on.

    Any advise?

I'm guessing you are on radio power and not radio switching. Prolly a keep-alive to prevent loss of programming.
Search for MotherTucker's Beltronics install thread (link in FAQ) for the right fuse to use.

EDIT: I read the thread again, it explains that most of the fuses are hot all the time; the switching occurs at the individual device. Again, the referenced thread has all the info you will need to find one of several locations which work.

Yeah, the radio has keep alive and I think will only really turn off after some 10+ minutes although I'm unsure if what you tapped would ever lose power. You'd need to wait and see.

However, I think it is wrong to tap any fuse other than the cigarette lighter's fuse. You should just switch to that one.

    Fun fact(but useless)..

I learn't this last night at the Drive In.

If you have the key to off but still inserted the radio still works, but it then turns off automatically after about 30 mins.

Somewhere I posted a picture of a fuse panel with the correct (switched) open socket to use.

    Ah, here it is:

Both of those slots are switched. Make sure you use the bottom socket of the fuse holder. The top side is the output and you'll not get squat.
