Base model R8 reviews...

For someone on a budget and upgrading from a low tier car, a lot of these options are costly and unnecessary. However, I'm having a hard time finding reviews or pictures of the base model aspects to compare with. The two options I find cheap and needed are the sound system and alacantra head lining which I have read on here a lot improves the sound and the cabin a lot. Just wondering if anyone out there has a more base interior/exterior and could provide reviews/pictures to help make the decision. Thanks!

Not really sure what you're asking for...

Most of the "upgrades" are visual aspects - carbon bits here and there, the Alcantera head liner (which I love).

I miss greatly the enhanced leather package of my first car and it's one thing I put in the upcoming car. The regular interior has a "cheaper" feel/look to it in my eyes and lacks that wonderful leather smell when you step inside.

The B&O system (which is all I have any experience with) is nice and works well.

yeah after looking into it im thinking ill spend the extra 2k for the leather package.

Find the car that has the goodies you want and go for it. You'll not regret it one bit.

I will as soon as I figure out how! For someone who enjoys listening to music but isn't a huge music buff, how is the standard stereo vs the B & O?

I am also in the market for an R8 and initially, I only wanted 2 options, B&O sound system and Navigation. However, having seen and driven several R8's, the Enhanced Leather Package ($5,500.00) is a must because the regular Leather Package ($2,000.00) still makes the interior seem a little "cheap" looking for a car of this magnitude. I could live without the rest of the options.

Find a nicely appointed used R8 and save yourself some money. They are out there. That's how I moved up to mine. With a factory warranty you are good to go.

I had the standard audio in the v8 and obviously the b & o is standard in the v10 - for me, there's not really much real world difference as I don't have the music cranked up very often. As the volume increases, the difference does become more apparent - so it depends on what you want from it.

I had the alcantara healiner in the v8, but didn't bother to spec it in this one. I think it was a nice touch, but certainly not a necessity. I just wasn't motivated enough to do it again this time.

If you like leather (I'm not a fan personally) the extended leather package certainly adds an extra dimension to the interior.

FWIW: Back in '08 I was in the process of ordering a car with very few options due to the cost. Then my dealer got a fully specc'ed car in (and since the world was ending then) wasn't able to move it, so I took the plunge. I have SO enjoyed the leather and the CF all over and alll the other goodies. It hurt once to write the check, but I get enjoyment every single time I look at it, enter the cabin and drive it.
