I drove it Sunday and it was great. The burbble sound of the exhaust is awesome especially when you downshift with paddles. I am seriously thinking of getting a V8 spyder than V10 coupe.
I "see" about four to five 911s a day. I can't remember the last time I "noticed" one.
I have recently owned a 997 C2S cab and a currently own a 997 gt3 and yes they go largely unnoticed. Too many.

^ I would agree with that statement in NA as well.
911s are not "LOOK AT ME" cars as the R8...but be careful...they bite hard!!! My best friend has a 997 4S cabrio mk1 with powerkit (X51) 381hp...he was the reason why I tuned the R8!
R8 420hp - 1565kg
4S(x51) 381hp - 1560kg
....and the 4S destroyed me easilly at ANY SPEED!!! WTF???? I have 2 more cilinders...I have 40 hp more and same weight!?!?!?! The V8 it is just to much sound and thats it...now with full exhaust(headers included!), intake and tuned ECU...we go even til 220-240km/h...above that the V8 FINALLY starts getting some meters slowly
But yes...the 997 is "nothing special" to look at...I see a hundred a day here...while there are only 3 R8 in my city...so everytime we get together nomeone notice his silver exclusive deparment 997 with powerkit and PCCB (160k euros!) and everybody looks and photograh my R8...I'm getting use to it...
I love the R8...even if the V8 is not as fast as others...I really enjoy driving it everyday! But we must respect those driving "Litle bastard" s...![]()
2010- R8 V8 R-TRONIC, BLACK/BLACK, TITANIUM WHEELS, BMC FILTERS, TUBISTYLE EXHAUST, CARGRAPHIC ECU
2010- 996 TURBO S (513 RWHP) 2WD - GONE
2008- CAYENNE TURBO - Still on duty!
2007- 996 C4S CABRIOLET - GONE
2005- 996 C4 - GONE
2002- BMW 328ci -GONE
Tend to agree somewhat that the V8 might just be a overall better Spyder combination..but they are pretty slow all things compared.
With the extra weight it just breaks the 5 secs barrier 0-60.
V8 Spyder supercharged would be perfect.
V10 Coupe though..mmm real deal for me.
Your gotta have that exposed engine, as it is a signature piece of the R8 Gene...something I miss terribly on the Spyder.
In regards to the 911 I don't remember the last time I ACTUALLY looked at one driving past.
