    Angry Spoiler stuck

Well, looks like I am going to have to take it in already. Not even 100 mi on the odo.

I've encountered a problem similar to that described in this past thread:
    http://http://www.r8talk.com/forums/...hp/t-3735.html

Yesterday after work, the spoiler came up by itself right after I started the car. The manual spoiler deployment button was not illuminated and pressing it (or holding it down) did nothing. The spoiler error light is on though. After I got home, I cycle the ignition, the error light went off but I was still not able to retract it though the button did light up and I can see that the spoiler is moving a little bit, attempting to retract but can't, the error light came back on.

    Vag-Com reveled this fault:

Nope, but when you look at the complexity of the mechanism...COMPUTER design !!

Have you tried to retract the spoiler again at speed or just at a stand-still?

I had the same problem this last week. I just left it alone and it went away. Hasn't had a problem since. I figure it was because I was messing with the button too many times. And maybe i opened the engine decklid with the spoiler fully up. My car is pretty new too, only 150 miles on it.

Tried both, no dice. Also drove above the automatic deployment speed, obviously.

I have not messed with the spoiler manually either.

There's something to be said about systems that are of too complicated a design. I mean, I understand what the engineers were trying to do but it seems the Germans are fond of overly convoluted mechanisms.

    Re: Spoiler stuck

I've had this problem on mine many times, but haven't asked to have it fixed yet. However, with mine, when the spoiler is mysteriously up when it shouldn't be, recycling the ignition always allows me to hold down the spoiler button and I get full retraction.

I don't know how rebooting would make the signal suddenly "plausible" on mine, but it does (not that I have vagcom, I'm just assuming it's a variant of the same fault that you have elucidated).

    Re: Spoiler stuck

Just back from long drive. The stupid thing is retracted now. No error light.

I'll keep an eye on it and email the service guy at my dealership with the Vag-com fault log. I'll let you guys know what transpires.

    Re: Spoiler stuck

When the engine temperature goes beyond a certain point, the spoiler will not retract. Maybe this is the problem, I read it in the manual.
