    Extended Leather vs Carbon interior

Which would you prefer. I've never seen the carbon interior in person but the pics don't look great to me. Looks just like shiny plastic.

Re: Extended Leather vs Carbon interior

This is really subjective, and I know that I am in the vast minority here, as everyone really seems to love carbon. But for me, carbon has little or no appeal, and in time I expect it to look dated and gimmicky. I took the extended leather package and have never regretted the choice. I will have the car for three years in August, and when I step inside, the leather smell is always there inviting me in.

With that said, is this really a relevant choice as carbon provides accent/trim, not extended surface treatment the way extended leather does, right?

I have both and have driven R8s without both, and I agree with kthacher. If I had to choose one I would probably take the leather.

I'm not really a carbon nut, but it looks much nicer than the stock trim, particularly the door and dash arch (I forgot how to spell it). That said, once you are driving it is not very noticable.

The leather dash also looks nicer, and is more noticable once you are in the car. It simply looks, feels, and smells more like a car should in this price range.

Having both is nice, but Extended is a must.

Re: Extended Leather vs Carbon interior

It always irked me that audi didn't do that piece of trim as a part of the carbon inlay package - especially as it looks so good on yours there. I seem to remember someone talking about possible reflections being the reason, but seems a bit of a daft reason.

I don't get it either. The native silvery-grey plastic piece looks out of place, matching nothing else inside the car.

I have never noticed any reflections. It seems too far inside the car for that.

and ironically, it's the most prominent bit of trim in the car.
