    For all you R-tronic Owners

    okay i have had my V8 Coupe for just over 3 weeks
    just wanted to get some opinions;

    have have always used manual mode and the paddle shifts for everyday driving,
    how many of you use the manual mode ?

    does the manual mode cause more clutch wear compare to Auto Mode ?

    thanks

    This is a question more easily asked of Manual owners. We all drive our cars differently. I've been trying to figure out if R-tronik clutches outlast the clutch in manuals. (Or visa-versa). Someday... we'll KNOW.

    I use the R-tronic in manual mode 95% of the time. I probably shift more with the R-tronic than I would if I had a true manual transmission simply because of the ease. It is hard to believe that any human could consistantly shift as smoothly as the R-tronic and therefore the clutch wear probably equals out.

    All depends. I can't speak for the R8, but in my Vanquish I went through clutches a lot quicker with the auto-SMG than with the manual. The Aston had the tendency to slip the clutch a lot on take off unless you were aggressive on the throttle. It also never totally disengaged the clutch unless you actually switched to neutral by pressing both paddles at the same time. So you would be sitting at a light in first all happy, but the clutch was still rubbing just a little.

    Re: For all you R-tronic Owners

    I always drive in manual mode and use the paddles.

    I can only recall a handful of posts where people have replaced clutches on r8's - and most of them were due to problems rather than natural wear - so I think the jury is still out on manual vs r-tronic clutch wear - let alone manual mode vs auto mode on just the r-tronic

    I can't think of any reason why auto vs manual in the r-tronic would be better/worse for clutch wear.

    I use my R-Tronik in Manual/Sport mode 99% of the time. 30,000 miles and 40 % used up. SEE thread: V10 clutch in V8 drivetrain. Maybe my car could go 100,000 miles before a new clutch is needed ?? (i drive it like I STOLE it)

    Re: For all you R-tronic Owners

    thanks for replies, i was referring only to R-tronic's so yes Manual Mode in R-tronic's
    i have yet to try the Auto mode, so was wondering which would be better for clutch wear...
    i also put it in N when ever stopped, they should have made the Paddles like the 430 when you can select N with both paddles pressed,
