I bid a fond farewell to my V10 Spyder tomorrow.
As some of the longer term members might remember I sold my very much loved V8 coupe last November.
I decided to upgrade to a V10 coupe but there was a 6 month delay so in the meantime the dealer swung me a great deal on a Spyder whilst I was waiting for the coupe to arrive.
Impressions of the Spyder are favorable compared to my previous coupe.
Obviously the engine is intoxicating but I have very much missed that V8 Stasis exhaust but have massively loved the extra power of the V10.
The suspension on the Spyder is certainly firmer and feels tighter and the steering somewhat a little more direct than the V8 was but on the track the Coupe is more stable and slightly better balanced.
The Spyder is a little bit more squirmy under hard acceleration or hard braking but is still a fantastic handling car.
I was a little bit disappointed with how much wind flows into the cabin but in saying that you can hold a normal conversation and I am 6 foot.
Mics on the seatbelts work fantastic and should be put through the whole Audi range.
The newer 3D navigation unit is better than the old but still quite a long way away from what is available now in other cars or even portable GPS devices.
Its been a great experience but I won't be looking back with regret when my 3rd R8 arrives next week..
A New color(after 2 whites),a new AWE Tuning Exhaust which should sound awesome on the V10,HR Springs again and a engine that will be massaged up towards 600HP.
I have never posted a picture of my Spyder since I bought it... as I always considered it a Temp car but in the interests of posterity I have included a couple of very very short video clips
