    SC V8 vs V10???

I have a well equiped Daytona grey/CF blade 2009 V8 with a Stasis exhaust and 5K miles. I love my car, but wish it had more punch. I've been considering SC vs upgrading to a used V10. I've read several threads, but found no real concensus... most people seem to prefer what they have. It seems both options would cost about the same (maybe a little more for the V10, but it would be a newer car).
Any thoughts on which way to go. I'm not only concerned about performance, driveability and warranty, but also resale value. Most aftermarket upgrades are loosers as far as resale value goes. Any experience with SC'd resale??

I would be interested in knowing this also. An SC costs £20K but how much resale value will it add? £5K?

Can't answer for Audi, but I've been selling supercharger kits for Hondas and Miatas for years. Aftermarket value of non factory accessories, including superchargers, usually hovers around zero. Part of the problem is people who like to modify their car, often don't want the specific mods you have made.

I think an R8 SC would have to add significant value tho? I mean it costs as much as a 3 year old 3 series BMW :P

Getting what you put into a car with aftermarket mods is hard, however there is always the right buyer if you are patient. I remember years ago selling a project car of mine and when I listed the price people jumped up and down, said it was worth half what I was asking, that I would never sell it, etc. It took 3-4 months and it sold, for the price I asked and it went to a very loving owner who appreciated what had been done to the car and still appreciates it to this day. I would suspect if you supercharged it and had some choice mods to augment the supercharger setup it could sell above the cost of a similar year, mileage, unmodified R8. You just have to wait for that buyer that sees the value in the modifications because it's exactly what they want to do, but don't want to buy a used/new R8 and then go through the hassle of buying the same mods you have and paying to have them installed. It's instant gratification to the right buyer, just takes time to find that right buyer.

That being said I am all for the supercharger setup, but I am bias. Got one available right now for your V8 PM or email if interested: contact@europrice.us

    Cheers,

I'd personally go with the V10. And if buying an R8 with a s.c. already installed, I'd only pay about 5k over that of a non s.c.'d one.

I was in the same dilemma myself, but i went with the v10 choice. The car drives so much better then the v8. Its not just the hp and torque increase, but its also the body panels, the smoother ride and tighter suspension you get. When i got the v8, i thought it couldn't get any better, boy was i wrong.

Car dealers and potential private buyers would like at a car with an aftermarket supercharger as a car that has been driven very hard and therefore no extra money would be given and possibly there would be a deduction in value for the SC. I know I wouldn't touch one with a 10-foot pole. My 2 cents.

If you find that one other enthusiast who loves the sc'd car as you do then you're in luck; they will pay good money...but in most cases, that doesn't happen which means you will probably get 10-20% of the money you invested into the SC at best.

If you're thinking about resale, I'd pick up a used V10. If you're a tinkerer and want to be a more rare breed from the pack then the SC.

    Re: SC V8 vs V10???

My obsession with cars has caused me many hits over the last 30 years but enjoyed every minute of those cars, Last thing on my mind when I own a car is resale. I was in same boat as OP, my 2009 was a little over a year old when I decided I wanted more power. Had already put a fair amount of mods into car and figured to get rid of it for a V10 and mod the same way would have cost me close to $80k including sales tax and the big hit you take on newer car excise tax for first couple years. For a little over $30k I got my power and kept my warranty by going with Stasis S/C. When I get rid of it next year I will first try to sell privately and if that doesn't work I will trade in at the Audi dealer who did the S/C install and service the car. They said they would like to get the car back as being a Stasis dealer they have a market for it. Also I have driven V10's and can tell you without doubt my car is much more fun
