Anyone know how much the first US R8 GT got auctioned for at the boca Raton Concours? I have searched and searched without any success...

No way! I am going to drive one this weekend and that is probably going to get me hooked... Especially because I have never done a track day in a car. I imagine I am about to develop a very expensive hobby!

It was a charitable event so everyone bids high just to show off how "charitable" they are! They get a tax write-off for the amount that goes to charity versus the amount that pays for the car so don't let the $300K fool anyone into thinking that one can buy and then flip the car for instant riches the way some were able to do when the F430 Spider came out some years back.

Hey, it can be cheap compared to some others; thinking watch collecting, or golf with its club memberships, etc.

Very true, but with only 90 coming to the States, I believe one could flip easily for at least a 25k premium....

    Re: Audi R8 GT Auction

The first GT which sold at auction will be delivered next month by the same dealer where I sourced my V10 Spyder last Dec. I will be invited to see it and sit in it when it arrives so I can finalize my decision if to order the Spyder GT. My dealer will also receive delivery next month of the GT Coupe they ordered for a client so between the two of them I'll get up close and personal with a GT, not something that happens very often for anyone.
I just hope the car doesn't cost as much as this website reports:
"Like the coupe version, Audi R8 Spyder GT will be sold only as many as 333 units. The price will be priced 207,800 euros or USD 2.6 billion."
    LOL!
My dealer isn't the dealer that got the first GT; that was Rick Case Audi of Atlanta but since the auction winner lives in Broward County, Florida, he chose my dealer to make the delivery.
I am receiving a package on Monday with a Buyer's Order and a GT brochure (almost as rare as the car itself!), and I'll send them the signed order and the deposit and next spring I should receive my Spyder GT! (assuming I don't change my mind once I sit in one next month)
