Are light colored leather interiors hard to maintain.

Would like comments from anyone who has a cognac leather or similar light color.
Is it difficult to keep clean and in good shape?

I noticed on Audi TT with a cognac color that there were scuff marks around where the seat belt slides behind the left shoulder. Often on the R8 there will be scuff marks on the plastic near the front part of the car door due mostly from getting in and out of car.
Are there other considerations with the lighter colors.
Would like comments from anyone who has light colored leather on the interior.

PS: Is leather option on the dash hard to maintain and is it resistant to sun.

    Appreciate any comments

Had a few cars with light interiors - the main problem is dye from jeans, but any decent leather cleaner will get rid of marks like that and bring it back looking like new.

I have light grey and had it pick up a lot of blue but had a company come out and "paint" the leather and it looks as good as new now. You will always get a bit of weather on the driving seat and the door facing edge as they are like bucket seats but I wouldnt say it was anymore noticable on a light color interior then say on dark leather. Its been about 7 months since I had the leather treated and it hasnt picked up any blue this time.

So the question is would you buy the same color again?

2 reasons for me - 1) it was a change from the black r8 interior I had last time and 2) it tends to give a feeling of more space.

as I said, I've never had a problem cleaning light leather - so that aspect is not a concern.

My F150 has light grey leather, and not normally a problem.

A friend had a beige interior on his Passat, and it would pickup the indigo blue from his denim really badly.

We have black leather in the R8, so not an issue, though we were considering a Oyster (basically off white) and decided against it upon the recommendation of the sales guys. They said it was far too hard to keep looking good - that and we have baby. Just not worth the extra work, so black it was in the BMW.

It really depends on on how much use it will see, and if you choose to wear black leather jackets, deeply dyed blue or black jeans, etc. Just choose your clothing appropriately for the car.

My 03 RS6 has limestone leather and it's remained remarkably clean over the years. I wear blue jeans/blue jean shorts 99% of the time and have not seen issues with bluing or the likes.

Thus far, considering the age, all is good.

With a little routine maintenance using a good leather cleaner, even an almost white interior such as the Linen interior on my Bentley still looks almost new after 16 months and 7500 miles. Then again, Bentley uses the best hides possible so there's that to consider...

I'm not having any problems with the limestone grey that 15 minutes of cleaning and treatment every few months can't bring back to excellent condition. The major bonus is how much cooler the interior and seats themselves are depending on where you live and park.

No. I have light grey and I hate it, lol. It keeps clean seemingly by itself though. I'd rather have black.
