Back-up Camera Parts Shortage

I was just informed by my SA that my 2012 R8 (in transit) and my 2012 Q5 (in port) will most likely be missing their back-up cameras. The current info from Audi is that it will be some time this Fall before the cameras can be supplied. Another shortage resulting from the Japanese earthquake / tsunami. Certainly not a major issue but, somehow I've grown to rely on the camera especially when backing into the garage spaces in my high-rise.

I was reading the official Audi info about this and according to that letter the R8 was the only '12 cars guaranteed to come with the camera. All others, including the A8 & A7 would come without the camera and be fitted later at no charge.

You're right! I was able to find the letter you referred to online. It clearly states that rear view cameras will only be available for 2012 R8 models. I've forwarded a copy of the letter to my SA and have asked him to clarify. I'm curious to see how he responds.
