Apple + Audi - My two favorite brands

At Apple's world wide dev conference a few weeks ago I noticed that some of the promo materials featured the R8, albeit fleetingly. Now Apple has introduced its new video editing software, and the R8 is front and center.

I wonder if Audi paid for this placement.

Pity the new FCP is getting bad reviews from the pro's - but another big apple fan here. I've relied on mac's to run my business for years, and love all their consumer stuff (ipods, iphones, ipads - even the apple tv is pretty neat for the cost).

Other than the r8, I can't say I feel as strongly for Audi products as I do Apple. When it comes to cars, I generally prefer bmw.

yes i love apple products as well, beautifully designed and easy to use and cutting edge technology i would say, have almost all apple products, as for audi also leading edge in car technology, however have the r8 v10 coupe, bit unhappy with the MMI/sat nav which was dvd powered. bmw i dont think are as hot on technology..

I too have joined the Apple world and am happy about it. Moved to a Macbook Pro when my old XP powered laptop died and all that was available was Vista (what a joke). Recently went from a flip phone to an I-phone 4. Wow. I've been living in the dark ages!

re: MMI/sat nav. Audi needs to make a touch screen system that your I-phone plugs into and allows control of the I-phone. Pretty much would bring up the entire phone on the screen and you'd have all the features, apps, nav, weather, etc. all at your fingertips in the dash. I guess it would be more or less just a touch screen control port for an I-phone.

given how far behind they are with the mmi on the r8 compared to the a5 I had a few years back, I wouldn't hold my breath for anything that feels like it came out of the 21st century just yet...

even the audi music interface is buggy as hell working with a bog standard ipod.

Yet my 3Gs won't work with the R8 Bluetooth system. Audi says this is Apple's fault. Apple says it's Audi's.

If only Apple could design audio controls for Audi. Whomever designed that mess should be subjected to a personal tirade by Steve Jobs, and then fired and escorted from the building by angry security guards.

randombloke - Don't worry about FCP. Apple will lose some folks in the near term, but a few years from now they'll be right back on top. Apple are masters of incremental improvement. Look at OS X when it was introduced vs. now. No comparison. The big gripe with Apple is they take their time to do things in a very impatient world.
