About 6 years ago I hit - or I should say "was hit" - by a moose and sustained only a smear of white hoof on the left rear fender left when the moose's hoof hit as it went over the trunk. Boy, was I lucky! I was doing 80 MPH southbound on I-89 in NH heading to the Manchester Airport at 10 PM when two moose came running across the highway. It all happened so fast that all I could see were all the tall, galloping legs and all I heard was the bang. A fraction of a second earlier and I'd have hit both and wouldn't be writing this now. I was in my son's silver Jetta and the white never came out of the paint (not that I actually tried and he never took care of his car, anyway). Not even a dent, just the hoof material in the clear coat. I really dodged the bullet that night! And so did my friend who was accompanying me.
