The R8s on its last legs now with all these editions coming out.

I feel there will be a new car soon.

Porsche has made amazing amounts of money with their endless numbers of new and meaningless "Special Editions". And now Porsche controls all of the sports cars made by Audi and all sports cars that fly under the VW flag. So expect much more of the same!

The only two "Special Editions" I have ever seen from Porsche that have any real substance are the 911 4.0L GT3 and the 911 GT2 RS. All of the others have been just meaningless window dressing. If they apply the performance perimeters and price points of these two cars to the R8, I would indeed welcome a new "Special Edition" R8.
