Hardly concrete when it's just a link to a discussion on another forum mentioning details which apparently came from another source.
bunch of bullocks.

I can confirm there is some new stuff listed. R8 V10 I am seeing 05/12-> 404KW, 549HP coupled with a 7 speed trans, no specifics, but nonetheless still listed in the lineup. The motor and trans have new codes indicating changes as well.
Also looks like the 7 speed trans is being listed on all the models as an option except the GT.
Cheers,
i appreciate your skepticism but that poster is is quite reliable, and there is another thread by a separate poster noting the new engine code and production date.
based on my experience-- this is bonafide information. i think this is being done to keep the R8 relevant vs the hi po S offerings coming out and the increased competition from the 458 and MP4C, SLS, etc... new R8 still on sched for 2014 CY debut and production as a 2015 MY car.

Gee, they are re-tuning a few horses back into the engine, thanks
Is this a clue as to the new Gallardo that's coming soon having a power increase from 560 towards 600hp?
R8 going to 549HP would still leave that marketing gap on performance that Audi strive to maintain.
Or is it the new rear wheel drive only R8 GT3 type model that has been rumored about?
7 speed transmission is a real plus IMO.
Don't know where that leaves GT owners.

Any news of the R8 V8? Are they going the route of say a 4.0L direct injection nat asp V8 so we could see maybe 450-475 HP out of the box? Or I guess 99% of buyers would just automatically default to V10.

I'd bite for the ISR.
Great news and gets me much closer to decision-time. Am I deluding myself hoping that new gearbox is DCT/DSG?
