09 R8 V10 Sepang, just delivered. :)

Just delivered yesterday, 09 w/ 3900 miles, 6MT. Loving it so far. Couple questions...

1.) Noticed steam or smoke arising from the driver side wheel well after a short 10 min drive, is this normal or something I need to worry about? Nothing from passenger side. It was a very casual drive, didn't push the car at all.

2.) Are there any options to upgrade the archaic MMI to the new version? Bluetooth retrofit?

I've not felt the need to upgrade the headunit to the slightly newer version. I believe it only offers slightly better graphics and a faster processor and the ability to add the iPod/iPhone connectivity.

OEMPlus used to offer the headunit upgrade by mailorder for customers who are not close enough to pop in for installation but I believe they changed that so it has to be installed by them now. If it's just the headunit you want to change and not to add iPod/iPhone connectivity then some have said it's just a case of unplugging the existing and plugging in the new one but I can't personally confirm this.

If you don't currently have bluetooth, it can be retrofitted but on a V10 I bet it already has it.

This all depends on your opinion of the existing 'archaic' MMI because the R8 has only ever come with 2 versions. An early version and a more recent version with the aforementioned improved graphics and processor but many owners will testify that even the newer version is still severely flawed. If you are expecting an upgrade to something you've seen in another Audi model then sadly it is not possible.

Dealer thinks it's probably brake fluid remittance from caliper swap/paint. It's gone now anyhow, and never had any pulling or abnormal brake feel.

I mainly want the ipod/phone connectivity with control through the screen. I don't care about the nav update as I never use car navs anyway.

It was a last second shipment (dealer just had another car delivered and was able to get the transporter to take the R8) so I don't have the manual yet...so couple dumb questions: how do I open the engine bay, can't find the button. Also, how do I set up bluetooth (if I'm supposed to have it?). Thanks!

Are you sure you have the older NAV? I forget the precise process but if you press the CAR button you should be able to get the hardware version number.
