Greg Sakakura at Premier gave me some samples of their Diamond Cut window film which is supposed to cut radiative heat as well as ultra violet light. This photograph shows films of 70, 60, 50 30 and 20% visible light transmission (VLT).
At work, I have access to research grade spectrophotometer so I ran the samples to get transmission spectra at various wavelengths of and compared them to some store bought Axius 35% VLT I had.
You can see that while all the films tested cut UV lights, the Premier Diamond Cut also blocked most of the infra-red contrary to the Axius which blocked almost none. Therefore, the manufacturer's claims are indeed founded. Note that if you have dark or black interior, visible light will still be absorbed by the material and the photon energy converted to heat.
I am planing to get the 70% film applied to reduce the discomfort of having the sun bake the left side of my face thanks to the stupendous visors that Audi gave us.
Notice of disclosure: Other than being a client of theirs, I have no connection to Premier or their affiliates.
