    In-car vid of R8 V8 acceleration

    Been digging around some old recordings I did and found some V8 acceleration footage that I think does a good job of conveying what the car felt like. Nothing fancy, just a couple of short bursts.



    was filmed a couple of years back - I think using a canon fs200 with a suction mount on the rear glass.

    Most interesting for me was the V8 seems slow on pick up now.

    Have a look at the beginning of my recent footage of the V10.. after first viewing the V8 footage and see the marked acceleration comparison in the few hundred yards from stop.

    Could all be a illusion or I am just talking out my a#se.(which happens)

    Also it took me a while but I am much more a fan of the V10 note now in comparison to the V8.

    It makes sense when you consider there's 0.7s difference 0-62: 4.6s vs 3.9s - never mind the gains post 62mph.

    Also it took me a while but I am much more a fan of the V10 note now in comparison to the V8.
    The v10 is certainly very addictive in the higher revs - it has a far more aggressive edge to it than the v8. Sub 4k I still prefer the v8, mainly because you can actually hear it with the stock exhaust, whereas the v10 stock is heavily muffled even with the valve disconnect.

    when you play it after the v8, the difference in pick-up is very obvious,

    A few things to consider...

    Your V10 video roads are much narrower with taller and closer shrubbery, which makes the V10 look even faster than it already is. Plus, randombloke has his camera in the back so motion is relative to a stationary cabin. Gazza, your dashboard video looks like you're on a single lane road to start because of the shade. Having said that, you can definitely tell the V10 pulls faster, but these videos makes the V8 look like it's standing still, largely because of the surroundings.

    Can't you tell I'm a bit insecure?

    And randombloke, those downshifts in your second video are intoxicating. I also like the way you sort of slap the paddle. Brilliant.

    I forgot to comment on how fantastic the awe exhaust/apr ecu sounds on gazza1's car. much more attacking than stock.

    I also like the way you sort of slap the paddle.
    I noticed that for the first time when I posted these videos - it's some kind of tick I guess.
