Unhappy Regarding the facelift and S-tronic

Hi every one, since every one talking about these change and from my view it’s a major change. I drove the old 997 and I bought last two year the 997 pdk its different animal believe me. R8 next step it will be the same maybe
Once purchase the R8 v10 I though there is no any change. I’m so confuse right know also by next week my AWE system will arrive, and my r8 will arrive after three weeks. My point is I’m paying an amount of money ,and withinh less than year there is new r8 facelift!! Everyone I need your advice

    Thanks

Re: Regarding the facelift and S-tronic

I have just taken delivery of my new one and I am not perturbed.

If we keep waiting for the next new one we would never buy a car.

Also remember that any one buying a new updated R8 model next JUNE will probably only get just over a years use before the BRAND NEW shape R8 is released.

The owners at the higher risk are the new GT owners who face a onslaught of new special exclusive models next year and the year after... along with a better transmission which will possibly make their cars less desirable.

My recommendation is install your exhaust and enjoy the car and as further info becomes available early next year make a decision to keep or change.

I was going to buy a Lambo this year but I am now waiting for the new Gallardo next year as it will be at the beginning of its birth..not the end.

Its the reason why I did not convert into a Lambo this year after owning 2 R8'S

I agree with last post, I heard the rumours when i had my order in for May'11 delivery and did question this at first but then you look at all other manufactures and you just have to accept this is just all part of ongoing development...never stands still.

In fact i thought my purchase was good timing as within 2 years im hoping the new model will come out which would have given me a few years to enjoy the current R8 before either looking at the new R8 or Lambo or something else exotic

You have to weigh the loss of driving the car against your perception of the benefits of the new spec *if* if materializes as rumoured.

Also, you talked about the 997 - if you are comparing tiptronic (which is a standard slushbox auto) to pdk then that's not even slightly comparable to the r-tronic (which is a robotised clutch manual). I drove a tiptronic 997 turbo and that was like you were suggesting what gear the car should use next, when it gets chance - if it's not too busy. The r-tronic is near-as-makes-no-difference instant in the higher revs.

Don't get caught up in that game of "would have, should have," it's only going to ruin your enjoyment of a fantastic automobile. I for one, no longer ever buy a car new, let alone first year of a model run, and enjoy what I have. If you're always chasing the latest and greatest and regretting every purchase as soon as a refreshed or newer model comes out, you'll never really enjoy what you have.

Nowadays I usually pick up a low mileage 2 yr old model for a good price, after the bugs have shown themselves and the mod market has matured a bit.

I seriously doubt the facelift will include DSG. This is purely speculation. As as been said before on this board, DSG would involve too much re-engineering. The new Aventador has a single clutch transmission, so I would assume the new Gallardo will as well. Perhaps the all new R8 will have DSG, but it would not surprise me if it does not.

Re: Regarding the facelift and S-tronic

i second the doubt about a DSG in the facelift. i also doubt any new R8 variants this life cycle. we should see new gallardo in paris next fall 2012. the new R8 in frankfurt 2013 as a 2014 MY car.

biggest thing to expect is the new ISR gearbox in the MY 2013 as a running change along with 545 hp in the V10. i expect the ISR gearbox will go into the V10 only (not the V8) and make it as fast as the R8 GT since the bearboc weighs less than the R-tronic and shifts more quickly. i'd love to see a new ring test of the V10 with this gearbox. it''ll come near the 7:37 GT ring time.

since the next R8's gearbox/engine combo will be ISR/current V10 engine update with ~600 hp i see no reason to not see this gearbox in the current R8. from what i understand it is, dimensionally, almost the same as the r-tronic)

Well here is a piece of unsubstantiated and unconfirmed info from a good source within Audi.

7 Speed in for 2013 model and 6 speed manual option will be deleted.

Just remember if it happens you read it here first.

Gallardo is dropping manual for the next generation... not sure if Audi would drop it mid-refresh though.

Either way, I ordered a manual so I'm not worried about dual-clutch at all! I'm just worried if it gets really awesome new facelift appearance tweaks
