    New here

I'm new to this forum and i wanted opinions about the R8 v10. I just turned 21 and my dad has agreed to get me the R8 by early next year. I currently drive the 08 lexus ISF, been having it since it was introduced, so all opinions will be helpful .

P.s. My dad just bought the 2011 audi A8L and its amazing!

I have a V10 almost 22 not sure which country your from but expect to get pulled over all the time by the England's finest(even tho it it is depressing getting stopped by a vauxhall)

Options depends on your budget really. But you don't need the carbon fibre its only for show. If your going to do a lot of track days then carbon ceramic brakes are great option. The v10 comes pretty well spec'd.

here in england there is a lot of pre reg/slightly used cars knocking about. that will save you upto £10,000

Do yourself a favor and get some track lessons with the purchase. At 21 and having these powerful cars is awesome, but you should experience their limits so you can better control them in pubilc. And take a taxi home on your 21st birthday from the pub

+1 If I had had this car at age 21, hooliganism would likely have ensued on the public roads...taking it to the track gives you a lot more appreciation for the car, builds your skills, and, most importantly, doesn't leave you wanting to push it on the public roads nearly as much.

    Re: New here

And it's not even vauxhall, it's plain old Opel

Anyway, I know how I was at that age, I had a way too powerful car at the time for my lack of experience, I trashed it and I trashed cars around it. I wouldn't recommend this car to any young person unless they can really, and honestly practice self restraint.

When I have a kid that you're age, you can bet your father's A8L that I'd never buy him/her a powerful car. If they really earn it themselves, I won't stop them as they are grown up and they can do with it as they see fit, drive it as they see fit and trash it if it so happens. Hopefully without causing injury to them or others.

The only thing going for you in my book is that you have an 08 lexus, and while I'm not familiar with the model, I'm sure it has enough power to cause a bit of damage. So if you haven't crashed it to date, you're probably ready. Just be careful.

It's not easy not being light minded even now. I'm a grown up road hooligan with an R8 except that thankfully I haven't caused any trouble

On the first week of ownership I managed to create a third, middle lane, which didn't exist before, in an otherwise pretty quiet country road, if you know what I mean.
