Autoexpress R8 GT first drives review

    http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/carrevi...udi_r8_gt.html

Twist the key and the V10 barks into life. Tickle the throttle and the car creeps forward smoothly and quietly, with no sign of the drama that’s about to unfold. After two restrained warm-up laps, we finally give it full throttle and the engine note takes on a much harder, metallic blare, screeching its way to beyond 8,000rpm and pinning us back in the seat. This is noticeably faster than any other R8, and in slippery conditions would show rear-wheel-drive rivals such as the Ferrari 458 Italia a clean pair of heels.

Consistent with other reviews I have read of the GT performance and its strong attributes.

It a shame that you have to pay a lot more than the standard V10 to enjoy it.

Looking forward to a previous R8 owner here posting their driving impressions of ownership.

Haha Gazza don't be so anti GT bro

It comes down to personal choice i guess. People who are paying an additional 60k for the GT over the V10, aren't thinking whether it's rational to do so or not. They do it cause they want a GT

The fact that only 333 units will ever be built helps it's exclusivity a tad more.

Also, no point waiting for a new shape IMO. If you can buy one today, then buy one today. Go work hard, and change it in two years.
