I would like to get an R8 (V8) in the next couple of months and have 56k to spend. How much should I expect to get off the screen price of a car like this?
Thanks guys,
Andy

56K?? To finance? Cuz there's no way you'll find one for that.

urm, unless it's £56k GBP (or some other currency with a conversion greater than 1 dollar).
Wardy, you need to tell us where on the planet you're located - preferably in the location field of your profile.

my mistake - based in the UK (in Surrey), I'll update my profile details now.
56000 sterling. You can pick ones up for that but I was wondering what price I should look up to if I have this budget as never bought a car in this price bracket before?
Thanks
I'd look up to £65k in the audi used network - there look to be quite a few cars there and the dealers aren't paying top price for the stock they're taking in so there should be movement to be had. When I px'd mine, the dealer listed it at 15% more they paid me.

Wow! That surprises me but is good to know. When did you part ex yours if you don't mind me asking?
Cheers
I think that 15% is a fairly standard mark up
March 2011 - there was a slight gap between my p/x of the v8 and picking up the v10 in may. When did you part ex yours if you don't mind me asking?

Hi
So if 15% mark up is the norm then £56k then the dealer may have paid out £48k. All dealers have cost to cover as well as warranty, min 3 months in the UK, so that will increase total cost for the dealer to £50k min. As they're looking to make a profit on all sales, I would have thought 5% then their minimum price is most likely £52.5k.
If you're lucky you might get £3-£3.5k off the asking price. I have no professional experience, just using my accounting background.
I purchased an R8 from an independent dealer but only got £500 off, got them down to £54k on a 58 plate, but mileage quite high for year and car type at 32k miles. Plenty of options including carbon in and out, sat nav, cd changer, exclusive leather and a few minor thing like parking sensors. At the end of the day, if you're happy with the price you paid for what you got then that's all that matters. Looking at auto trader you can pick 07 plates up for £52k, and that's before the haggling.
Pistonheads is a great place to look for one, not just auto trader to choose from.
