AFTER 5 month wait, my babe has arrived

Picked up my Vehicle yesterday, CANNOT BELIEVE HOW GOOD IT FEELS.
however there is few things i want ask all the buddys here

    1. R-tronic gear box, every time it stop at a red light after like 5-10 seconds it goes into Neutral... and as i trying to engage the gear, sometime it says your foot need to be on the engine break, infact my foot was on it the whole time, had to step on the break much harder inorder get the it into the Automatic mode. is there anyway to fix that?

    2. the Squeal noise it makes at low speed breaking... is it normal?

    3. i also owns a A5, that one has fully integrated Music MMI interface, i can plug my ipod, and all the songs name actually shows on the screen, with the R8i still can plug the I pod on, however if i want change songs i need use the ipod instead of shuffling with the MMI.

Suzuka grey is a unique color. with the carbon side blade it looks SOO **** hot. really apprieciate the advice from every one here.

    congrats on the car

    1. I don't have r tronic but have driven a coupel of r8's for a few weeks that have them, you need to keep your foot depressed on the break. When in this position i have always applied a lot of pressure.

    2. nope, though there are other threads on it

    3. i can control my ipod via the steering wheel and the mmi

r tronic...i have that if i am not standing the whole time on the brakes, than it goes into neutral, than u need to step on the brakes to be able to engage a gear again, was a bit confusing at first, coming from an bmw m3 with dual clutch, but down the road u will get used to it...

Congratulations on your new R8...great choice of color.

Have you cruised down Chapel St yet??

    In regards to your questions..

I had low level squeal on both my Spyder and my new V10 COUPE for the first few hundred Kmhs but it disappeared on both never to return.

In regards to the Ipod..do you have the CD Player in the car seated behind you?

If so you can only control the iPod through the Ipod itself.

If however you have no cd player and have the Ipod connector at the back then you should have full control from the wheel and the dash.

the r-tronic/brake pedal thing sounds unusual - if your foot is on the pedal them it should stay in gear. You say you had to step "much harder" on the brake - either you do your brake pedal weirdly or there could be some kind of problem with the switching.

plenty of people have talked of brake squeal - I had it for a few miles on my v10, but not on the v8.

as gazza said, if you have the audi music interface which is a socket+cables located in the drop down flap in the rear bulkhead between the seats then you can control the music on the ipod (and also from a usb drive) via the mmi/steering wheel controls.

I was originally using an ipod but found it was glitching occasionally, so I use a usb stick now with no issues.

Cool Re: AFTER 5 month wait, my babe has arrived

Congrats on the car, good colour combination..but then I would say that as I'm slightly biased

It truly is a stunning colour in the flesh and the CF blades are a great contrast, only thing I added to mine was the CF mirrors.

    Congratulations! Enjoy it!

Sounds like we have a different symptom but, related brake pedal/switch/sensor problem.

I picked up my 2012 R-tronic Spyder two weeks ago. In my case I get the same "Step on Brake" message, with my foot already firmly on the brake, when I attempt to start the car. I do not drive in Automatic mode very often but, when I do I always shift into Neutral when stopped. Therefore, I don't know if I have the same R-tronic issue that you are experiencing. When I get my car back from Dealer Service I will test what you are experiencing and post the results. You can read about my issue in this Thread - Non Start Problem

    Good luck!

Congrats on your beautiful new car.

Just to confirm what has already been said, I had a couple brake squeals early on with my 2011 V10, but they have quieted down and never been heard from since.

My car needs very little brake pressure to keep it in gear. Maybe you have an adjustment issue. I do not like holding the brake peddle down hard, particularly after coming off the freeway, or slowing from high speed. In that case, I would rather put the car in neutral and let the rotors cool evenly. I'm such a nut about it, I'll even leave a little space in front so I can creep forward while waiting (thus, the pads never sit over the same spot on the rotors for an extended period). Never warped a rotor in my life, and I believe it's in part due to making sure hot brakes are allowed to cool evenly.

Question: By leaving a "little space" and creeping ahead at a stop, aren't you doing another type of damage:, slipping the clutch? I'm just as paranoid about saving clutch life and find myself slapping the lever to neutral at any length of a stop.

I was just notified that they are going to replace my Brake Pedal Switch tomorrow.
