dropped of my car this a.m at dealer for tubi install, look in the show room and there is an identical ibis white r8 with all the same packages as mine but with white face gauges like the gt and thicker wheel like the spyder.

How much thicker is the thicker steering wheel? What's the cost?

The thicker steering wheels are 4-5 mm thicker depending on the area of the rim you talk about, but that's an average. It's also more contoured and comes with a nice little R8 badge. Comes with or without aluminum shift paddles which changes the price:

You reuse your current airbag and it's a simple 30 minute install at best. It's a great upgrade for anyone that finds the stock steering wheel a bit thin, I know I do.

There's also the R8 GT steering wheel which is alcantara and only comes with aluminum shift paddles. There are also the TTRS steering wheels which are full air leather around the whole steering wheel, with or without shift paddles. These are all the thicker, more contoured style steering wheel, same shape as above just different leather styles. All steering wheels can get the R8 badging or no badging, they are nice and modular.

I was considering the steering wheel upgrade but mine has the red stitching on it to go with the rest of the car interior. I am not sure if I can get that if I upgrade.

Custom work can be done, but prices do climb obviously. A customer leathered and stitched steering wheel is about the same price as the R8 GT steering wheel. Lots of options when you go the custom route.
