Well i finally bit the bullet

Decided not to wait for the facelift and just bought a 2011 model.

shes silver outside, wit silver side blades and black interior.

My reasons for doing this are simple:

    1. I bought a new 2011 V8 R8 for 100,000$... for dubai that is cheap, as they usually go for around 127,000 $ base price( I believe this is quite a good deal, and one that i couldn't pass up)

    2. I've decided i definitely want to get the all new R8 in 4 to 5 years when its out and want to enjoy as much as possible with the current model.

    3. Im an impatient B8stard

    so here she is:

just breaking her in now and not going above 6k revs( actually sticking to round 4k) until 5000 km.

So far compared to my previous caymanS she is a different animal all together. I still am quite surprised at the amount of attention she is getting here in dubai since this place is full of exotics.

    cheers Arth

It's not like you'll be slumming it until the facelift arrives - think of all the fun you're going to have once you've run it in. Congrats!

Totally agree with your decision. You got to live for today.
I'm driving round in what are the school fees for my twins! (R8 V10)
They may end up going to some inferior school, but they'll have a happy dad.

Congratulations on the car. I wouldn't wait 5,000 clicks to open it up. Half of that should be more than enough even for the conservative Audi break in schedule.

Congratulations and Best of Luck! Enjoy it to the max.

FYI - the GM of my dealership said get in it and drive. The ones that are pampered are the ones that come into Service with problems.

Warm it up (oil temp in operating range) and then enjoy it! Don't baby it or you'll end up with a car that drinks oil and wants to be pampered.

There are more than a couple of us that ignored the Audi break in procedure and we've all had better (less) oil consumption as a whole.

Both of my new R8's were never babied and gave great fuel economy and weren't oil drinkers. - both were warmed up and then run like they were stolen right from the beginning.

Please put your location in your profile too - it's needed for market specific questions on occasion. Thanks.
