    Super happy new R8 owner

I had originally started my search for an R8 with a V8. However, the more I thought about it the more I wanted a V10. After shopping around for pre owned V10's I realized I could get a new one for not much more.

I finally decided on a new 2011 Ice Silver with Titanium package, CF Side blades, enhanced leather, and a couple other options and couldn't be happier.

I'm coming from a 997 911 turbo and I have to tell you that I've had more people come up to talk to me about the car in the past few days of ownership than I've had come up to talk to me about my turbo the entire time I've had it.

I was going to go for the turbo S but decided to go for the R8 to switch it up not to mention I think the R8's physical appearance dominates all other cars out there. My thinking was that I'd get the R8 now and go for the 991's when they came out but just after a few days with the R8 I don't think I want another car!

I'm glad to be a member on this forum and look forward to learning many new things about the R8 from everyone on here.

I'll post more pics later when I take out the DSLR. For the time being iphone pics will have to do.

PS. Don't worry, thats not where I park her, she will be garaged for sure (but will be taken out A LOT).

Great move up. Great looking car!!!

I went through the same thought process as you did. Had the 997 TT and thought abt the TT S but decided to give the V10 a try and for the past week have been pinching myself.

They are beautiful cars and so nicely finished.

It will get better with each drive I am sure.

I am still breaking it in for the next 1200 miles. Cant wait to hit 8750.. my big goal.

The really good news is that the attention is virtually all of the pleasant, thumbs-up kind.

My old Porsche attracted far too much trouble (Guards Red and a big whale-tail didn't help, perhaps), but there are almost no haters out there when it comes to R8's. Instead, everyone smiles.

    Enjoy in good health.

The funny thing is... I am an Ironman... as in completed Ironman Triathlons.

Thanks everyone! I can't wait to go for a ride again!

I like your thought process, and agree with others that almost all the attention is either positive or curious. You've got a nicely optioned specimen there! I guess Ice Silver will go well with your upcoming Chicago winter (some have been known to just throw on a set of snows and take advantage of the quattro), but I see you have the RX350 ready for that

Yep, supercar saturdays is over but there's a meet in Flossmoor this Saturday http://www.southshorecandc.com/

I'll be there, and Tom w/ the white R8 from Crown Point will be there (he's getting springs and rims on this week). We'll see who else we can rally.

Thanks Doug! That Stasis set up of yours must be sick!

I doubt I'll take it out in the snow but I'll definitely drive it during the mild winter days =).
