Well, just got back from the Audi sportscar experience. Met quite a few people there including another forum member (I'm sure he'll post too).

The day was hosted at Silverstone by Audi AG, the instructors coming from the German Audi Sportscar experience team.

It started with an 8.30 am check-in at the circuit followed by a slalom run through cones in a TT; emergency brake testing in an S8; circuit practice in an S6; and finally ESP mode off for controlled braking while cornering in an RS4.

After lunch we got to drive round the full circuit in each of the four cars (warm up, three hot laps, then cool down in each). So that's 20 laps in total. I drove the cars in the same order as above. By this time it was raining hard enough that windscreen wipers were needed at all times. The TT was pretty good, a few ESP moments in the S8 nearly required new underwear, but the RS4 was quite simply excellent.

The driving experience ended with our instructor taking us out on a hot lap in the RS4 where he showed us how to take every corner sideways. Great fun!

The day finished with the unveiling of the R8. This was the first time that I've seen the car in the flesh, and I had been worried that it would be a bit TT like. But there is certainly no mistaking this thing for a TT! Beautiful. They let us sit in the car, play with the switches, opened up the engine bay - but they wouldn't start it for us :-)

I picked up a bit of intelligence about whats going to happen to the dealer network, but I'll post about that later. For now, it's time to grab a bite to eat and relax ;-)
