Over the past year and a half I have been fortunate enough to own two Twin Turbo V8 R8's. I have had the pleasure of using these cars on multiple road courses and on the street for several thousand miles. I've also previously been fortunate enough to own exotics from many other manufacturers as well. With that said, the R8 just keeps me coming back for more. As any other owner knows, the R8 is the perfect balance between exotic and luxury. It's good enough to put an ear to ear smile on my face when I drive it, yet docile enough for my wife to take out for a Sunday drive.
A few months back, a local gentleman decided that he had to have my red V8 car. I wasn't really looking to sell it but I figured that maybe I could try something different. Well, before the car even left I was browsing e bay looking for another red R8. At the time the only one that I could find was a V10 so I figured maybe I'd give the V10 a shot.
A few days later there was a red V10 R8 being delivered to my shop. I immediately noticed that Audi had made several small refinements over the V8 car. It was also impossible to overlook the difference in the engine. The power and torque of the V10 was significantly greater than the V8. The one thing that I couldn't get over was the difference in the sound. Some might argue that the V10 sounds more "exotic" than the V8 but to me the V8 just sounded better.
We began installing our turbo system on the car within a few weeks of it's arrival. Once completed we moved it over to the dyno and made certain that everything was in proper working order and set it up to make around 775 whp.
Once that was out of the way it was time to start enjoying the car. I don't quite know how to explain how fantastic the car is. It's just something that you have to experience for yourself. The entire package is nothing short of incredible.
I would like to thank the wonderful people at Audi for providing us with the line up of cars that we have available today. As far as I'm concerned, they build the closest thing to a perfect car that I have experienced to date.
This car is now on it's way to a new owner in another country. I know he'll enjoy it as much as I did. Now I begin the search for R8 number four. I'm sure that most of you can relate to my enthusiasm toward the Audi brand. Pictures below. Enjoy.
