Changes in the r8's per year.

Hello, sorry for the Newb question, but using search I can't find clear answers. Can someone answer or point me to a thread or website that has the changes in r8 per year. I know there aren't major changes, but some minor changes are there. I'm wondering if it's better to get an 08-09, or 10-11 in the v8 car based on the available options vs the price increase to get the newer car.

The most noticeable differences are from 2008 - 2010.
In 2009 the DIS changed from red to white and resolution increased slightly, lid latches moved location inside the cabin, and aux input to stereo appeared.
In 2010 they changed to a higher resolution nav screen, and native iPod support (AMI) was an available option in place of the six CD changer.
None of these changes affected the basic performance of the R8.

Additional CF bits came available each year as well. Others who are more into trim levels can elaborate.

I'd agree with all that. If you're into the electronics details: in addition to a higher res. screen, the nav software/firmware underwent a major upgrade to include a "3D" or aerial view mode and some other changes (which took advantage of the higher res. screen).

Another, rather minor point, is that the "launch mode" was apparently added to the 6MT cars in either '09 or '10....my '10 has it but some earlier MT cars apparently do not....I never use it; I think maybe it was added for the v10 MT (RT's always had it) and they decided to just make all MT cars with it.

Some "standard" color changes have been made: Mugello blue was dropped after '09....apparently to make way for Sepang blue. Customizing options as far as both exterior colors and interior cosmetics expanded greatly with the '10 model year....prior to that (and up through the time in '09 I was writing my order), the details of the Audi Exclusive Program and access to information about its options was very hard to come by (at least at my dealer) and it wasn't (then) on the "build" website. Also, a lot of options that had been "exclusives" were added (like stitching); so early cars will tend to be more uniform in details (though there were very custom "Exclusives" from the beginning....mainly big Eastern City dealers seemed to know how/wanted to access it).

I thought Red interior was just available under Audi exclusive? Since halfway thru 2008 (so UK 58 registrations and above) R8s came with white colored display on the instrument cluster (above the steering wheel) as opposed to red in earlier cars. Also the leaver to lift the engine bay was moved from by wear the pedals are.
