    Filthy R8s

This morning TheSubtleCount and I took a nice drive out in the twisty back roads of Marin County and of course it started to rain. At least we were able to test the handling in the wet, and the car just performs fantastically.

He got me going faster than I ever had on public roads. We passed some cars on several occasions going ... well I am not going to incriminate myself but they must have thought that they were standing still.

At some point I drove too close to the edge of the road and clipped some vegetation and managed to chip the paint of the edge. I had to pick off plant mater off the right side blade intake. Oh well.

The picture below show how well his Exclusive Oak Green Metallic paint hides the dirt. My Ibis white was really a lot dirtier when viewed in person.

    A great fun morning.

What Radius8 didn't say, because he's a gentleman, was that he left me in the dust (er, the wet road) on the tight, hairpin curves of Mount Tam.

Nevertheless, we had a blast (literally), driving through the coastal roads of Marin.

Will do, but you must promise not to smoke us too badly.

I am confirmed for AudiFest! TheSubtleCount is not attending but I am trying to talk him into possibly stopping by to see how the event is ran and to meet everyone. Hope that you car will be ready by then. See you there. Looks like this year has strong R8 attendance, listing 13 R8s signed up.

Let me know the next time you guys get out as well. Not attending AudiFest unfortunately. With all my little ones, its too hard to get out that many days. All my free passes are used for Sunday golf.

I just had the same experience on some roads in the Texas hill country. Doesn't look too bad yet in this photo, but it took the better part of 3 hours to get the car clean after this run. Was a blast though, and I concur...the R8 handles like a dream on wet pavement.

Do you guys have problems with water finding its way into the engine compartment when you get stuck in the rain? It's a pain to clean....

Looks like a lot of fun! I wish Chicago had twisty roads like cali... =/

Not so far, but it wasn't raining very hard. Still looks as clean as the day I bought it in the engine bay.
