    2012 R8 coupe buying price

    Hey guys,

I was wondering what pricing under MSRP you guys were getting for your 2012 R8 V10 coupes?

The dealership in s.cali would not budget anything under 3k MSRP.

    Please advise

    Thanks

Are there actually that many coupes out there to buy? I've seen a crapload of spyders sitting around, but relatively few coupes...

    3K under seems reasonable for a 2012.

There are 81 coupes within 135 miles of me on Autotrader. I wouldn't touch one now heading into winter with that kind of inventory for less than 10K off. Upcoming facelift another depressant.

No matter what a dealer tells you, they are a hard sell right now. Pricey car, bad economy.

hrmmm i was hoping for at least 5-6k off MSRP but the dealer wouldnt budge. This dealer claims to be the #2 r8 seller in the nation.

Not sure if i should pull the trigger.

One dealer in Miami claims they are the largest Audi Dealer in the USA..

    I think it's Prestige Audi.

Re: 2012 R8 coupe buying price

R8lin, sorry in advance for the long post... I am excited
My opinion is that right now you have a nice window to buy an R8 at a good price; the latest bout of bad economic news and winter's approach makes it for a moment when dealer's inventories have grown to levels they have never seen before with the R8 and where cars have been ordered for inventory rather than for confirmed orders so the supply and demand equation has changed. There are 2011s and 2012s in inventory and more 2012s arriving. It is also the end of the month and dealers have this odd fixation with reaching monthly goals. Try Looking at other dealers and consider going out of your immediate area, There are discounts to be had if you do a little homework. Several dealers have just received new coupes in stock and several dealers have not "accepted" their already built cars which are now seating in port waiting for them until they sell their New 2011s they have in stock. Look at dealers in small cities, dealers in suburbs of larger cities, etc.

My personal experience: I spent the last 2-3 weeks reading this board, looking at pictures, reading about options, etc trying to decide what color and specs I wanted; I went personally to 3 local dealers ( 2 of which claimed to be the largest R8 dealers in the country ) and all said they only sell at MSRP or above and I can understand it as they have plenty of buyers in this area and had literally no new cars to show me. At the same time I emailed many dealers that showed vehicles in stock in the colors and options I was interested in via Cars.com and autotrader.com. Many of the cars on those sites don't actually exist (vaporware) or are cars coming for a confirmed order so don't think that there are as many as you will see on the sites ..

I eventually started speaking and exchanging emails with a dealer that was very pleasant and responsive and seemed more interested in selling me a car then the others. We started talking about options, colors, combinations of options, etc since I wasn't sure on what color I really wanted. I eventually made an offer this afternoon which I felt was not low-balling and offensive on the car they had sitting in port because it best matched my wants (they wanted me to take the one new 2012 they had in stock but at the end I decided on another color) and they accepted. All of this was very pleasant and with no hard sell tactics and no hard bargaining either: I made one offer, they asked: will you order it today?, I said yes, send me the buyers order and I'll give you a deposit, deal done.. so I am pleased.
I literally signed a buyers order and gave a deposit this afternoon so the car might arrive from port in a week and a half or so then it's time for a road trip to go get my new Ibis White R8-V10
Any way, this is my advice and personal experience. Good luck and keep searching but I warn you that if you get to hear a V10 getting started and the engine revved! you will be lost and your checkbook will fly out your pocket! What a sound!

    Cheers,

Would you mind telling us the MSRP and how much you ended up paying? Will be helpful ammo for those of us still on the hunt. Thank you and enjoy!

Re: 2012 R8 coupe buying price

I have an American Express Platinum Business credit card and in their Rewards program they offer no haggle pricing on cars with participating dealers. They also guarantee paperwork done in under an hour and will deliver the car and get the paperwork signed at your home or office in case you're very busy and don't have a trade-in. It's simply a buying service and doesn't require you to purchase the car using your Amex card (though I'd love to and get all the frequent flyer miles, but most dealers don't want more than $5K on credit card). I configured a 2011 Coupe 6-spd manual and this is what they show savings off the MSRP as configured and what they guarantee your buying price will be: YOUR PRICE $148,275 Savings off MSRP:$4,975

I recently used this to service a new 2011 Toyota Venza for my wife to use up here in VT the few months a year we're here. Amex came up with the car she wanted in her preferred colors for about $4K off the $39K MSRP, a considerable discount. However, the dealers were all 100 to 130 miles away. So I found a dealer only 29 miles away that isn't enrolled in their program and they matched the other dealers' price and even had the salesman drive an hour to my house to appraise my trade-in so I wouldn't have to drive there to get that done and have to return the following day to make the deal. He gave me what I wanted for my trade so I drove over the next day and was out in a half hour or less. Very clean and easy.
I don't think you need the Platinum card, just be enrolled in their Rewards program and then you can shop cars.
