    2009 R8 Stereo Nav question

Hello Everyone I am new to this forum and just purchased a 2009 R8 Coupe. I am coming from a Porsche panamera. I am reading that this year has no Ipod or 3d nav. Is there a way to upgrade to a new model like a 2011 or even 2012 R8 nav/radio module. Is it just a swap in and out? Or is there an aftermarket way to do it that is better?

    Thanks
I have the B and O system with nav.

    Thanks

Its just a direct swap in no coding is needed unlike on say BMW satnavs. Im tempted to do this mod myself at some point.

Re: 2009 R8 Stereo Nav question

fyi, based on a fragment of this issue I know about:

The nav upgrade (hi res screen, "3d" map view, improved map detail, etc.) and the iPod dock option (AMI) came in with the 2010 model (production beginning June '09), though the iPod dock option could not be ordered until August production that year due to some issue with other changes being required.

The improved nav. basically came in with the (US anyway) intro. of the v10 engine option, which was first available in N. America with the 2010 model. AFAIK, the present (2012) nav is still basically the same unit.

I know something about this because I have an early '10 (wrote my order in May '09 for June production) and the iPod dock option was labelled "not available until August production") on my order sheet. I have never been able to find out WHAT the specific problem was that prevented our early '10's from having the "Audi Music Interface" (AMI) &/or whether I could swap out my 6 changer for the iPod dock (AMI) without some major change.

I have read of rumors about "reconfiguring the firewall recess to accomodate the AMI, which supposedly wouldn't fit in the 6 changer recess, but I've also read it stated that was not so. FWIW, the v10 DID require a redesign of the firewall, and maybe the v8 firewall needed changes too, for the AMI. But I know at least one early '10 v10 orderer who couldn't order the AMI either, with the August availability stated to him also.

Mark 25 do you know where this can get done. Do I just order the one from the audi dealer and have them do it? Thanks

I just got of the phone with my local audi dealer who said I can't swap out my 2009 radio for a 2100 to get ipod and 3d nav because it wasn't compatible something about fiber optic cables. Is this true?

we've got a vendor on here....I THINK it's OEMPlus?, sorry not sure about that...that has been into the factory upgrades; why don't you go to the vendor's list ("forum" page, at the bottom) and try them or another likely listing and ask some email questions; be sure to post what you find out for everyone's edification!

Re: 2009 R8 Stereo Nav question

I spoke to OEM plus today and they said they don't do the conversion anymore becuase of all the problems they were having with it.
Has anyone put an aftermarket connection kit that hooks up to the original dash module just for IPOD integration?
Also do the 2009 audi come with satellite radio?

Yes, my 2009 has Sirius satellite radio built in. One of the buttons has a little picture of a satellite (or radio tower, or???) on it, just push it repeatedly until you get to the satellite page. If your radio is not already activated by the previous owner, tune to channel 0 (zero) while outside. Then call Sirius with the radio ID you see on that page.

Since you are in LA, OEMPlus may do the conversion if you bring it in to them in Laguna Niquel. I had spoke with them previously, and they had mentioned this even though the nav unit is not offered on their site.

Regarding IPOD integration for the 2009, there is the Dennison unit although I haven't researched it too much yet.
