My R8 police chase on 405 today (apparently)

Went to watch some football this morning at my favorite local bar in Santa Monica. Left the bar at 1:00 and about a mile down I heard sirens, so I quickly pulled to the right to clear lanes.

I looked up to see he was pulling ME over. Haven't been pulled over for 10 years. Starts telling me he's been trying to catch me since the 405 (5 miles away) and saying I sped away from him. I was nowhere near the freeway and barely go to that side of town. He was convinced I was lying. I'm telling him I can't stand LA traffic and only cross the LA border once a year, so it was impossible that it was me, especially 5 miles away.

Only hope I had left was to prove to him I was at the local bar, showing him my receipt and saying I have a dozen people who can vouch that I left minutes ago. Anyway, he went to his car to check "video" to see if it was me. He said he can't tell from the video and let me go. I thanked him.

There are very few silver R8's in this area and basically any area. What are the chances of getting accused for something another R8 owner did. Chasing me for miles?

I might have been in SM today, MIGHT have been. I do have a silver R8 but what are the chances of that!? I haven't seen another silver with carbon blades in this town in a while. Only seen one silver with silver blades. You're lucky he didn't see your bar receipt and ask you to take a breathalizer test

We went through the DUI stuff. Did a couple of tests. No breathalyzer though. I was sober, but I'm not taking these chances again. Lesson learned. ZERO beer outside of home. LA county jail has feces on the walls and I have germ-phobia OCD.

I was probably the silver/silver blade. I drive through Santa Monica 4-5 times a day.

Maybe the dude was chasing you off the 405 Too funny man.

I think cops will be quite busy if they pull over and ticket every car which they can't afford. I am not saying it never ever happens, but I seriously doubt it happes often.
IMHO it is a far-fetched explanation for being pulled over for speeding (or some other violation) and deservingly being ticketed.

As soon as you offer such a cop a ride, they soften right up. Also, it's more of a goodwill gesture as they probably are not allowed to anyway.
