Does anyone know if this would work on the MMI of the R8?

basically it allows for the MMi screen to play a DVD while driving.

Unfortunately the head unit in the R8 is RNS-E based. I stopped reading here as it is doubtful it would work.

Ipad is always with me; but it would be cool to put a concert on the dvd of the R8 for a nice long drive. ;-)

try vagcom you can buy them cheap on ebay and go to their website and change adaption values for the "speed" and BAM! it will work...

BAM! now all you need is a DVD drive...

I just tested and the Nav's DVD drive doesn't play videos. I guess that is the end of that idea...

What about euro spec same thing? I know in my old MBZ you can swap for a oem eurospec nav unit where it allows you to watch DVDs even on the go. I guess in Europe the autobahn gets so boring you can watch movies and drive.

i have had a few rns-e radios that do play dvd, i will find out what is differnet

It was a video DVD not an audio one. I'll try the audio DVD tonight but I'm pretty sure that my sales person told me it does play.
Anyway this isn't a big deal, just a silly curiosity
