A Question about buying an R8

Hello, I have been a big fan of Audi R8 since its debut and I am finally in the market for purchasing one.

But I have a question that only owners will truly know about.

How is its reliability? Like many other supercars, is it that fragile? Don't get me wrong, I am not going on off-roading with it or something. but I am generally curious about its reliability. Is it going to break down often? How about the maintenance cost?

As it being an Audi, I think it will be alright. But, still, I want to hear from the owners.

And one more question: how do you cope with the attention you get on daily basis on the streets? Haha

Welcome. I use my R8 daily and it's been overall great. I drive it everywhere, park it anywhere, rain or shine, and take it to a hand carwash. I basically don't worry about it and I'm having a blast driving it around.

Lots of smiles, thumbs up, stares and nice comments. Sometimes people try to race, and I ignore them and slow down. People take photos and ask about the car. The other day at a stop light, a woman in a Mercedes motioned for me to roll down my window. She let out a big laugh and said that my car was beautiful. That kind of stuff. It's not a problem for me and I try to be friendly and not have an attitude. People are curious about the car and appreciate a kind thoughtful response.

Probably the most reliable, comfortable, and easy to drive Supercar on the market to date.
These cars do get ridiculous amounts of attention, but all positive for the most part.

take a look around this forum - there are a heap of r8 owners and r8's with big miles on them and yet the number of faults/complaints is relatively small.

This car is solid. I'm now at 33,000 km and if I've had any problems with the car, they've only been minor things. Audi service centres also treat R8 customers especially well. Go for it.
