Other R8 owners on the road - this one is funny!

It's the most hilarious thing. For close to 4 years, every single R8 owner I've seen on the street waves, nods, revs, says hello, does a high beam, or does some sort of communicating that we are in the same small group, brotherhood, or family.

There is one guy in my area who'm I've seen more than a dozen times, and NOTHING. I've waved, honked, yelled, and have tried to get his attention to say hello, being one lane over at a red light even. Absolutely nothing. I'm just totally amazed.

The reason I'm typing this today is, I saw him at a bar, he walked right in front of me, (2 feet away), and I said, hey, hello? hey dude!!, and TOTAL NOTHINGNESS. I started laughing so hard. I couldn't believe it.

Not only is he incapable of visual responses, but he is also completely deaf.

I am stunned, beyond any words.

It doesn t take much to be polite in return......what a jerk......it sounds like you are better off having no interaction with this guy.......complete strangers walking on the beach say "good day"....
    .Karma will get him....

I just want to give him the benefit of the doubt. I want to make sure he has no visual and hearing disabilities. It would be terrible of me to just write him off if he was actually deaf and blind. I would feel terrible.

That kind of snobbery is often a camouflage for low self-esteem. As we all know, lots of people buy expensive things as a means of compensating for something else. Present company excepted, of course.

Live and let live is a pretty good philosophy.

    Peace.

People who say good day, or hello or any other thing to strangers do not necessarily mean it well anyway. It doesn't make a person nice, friendly or otherwise good.

thats a pretty sad and gloomy outlook you have on humanity there mate.....

If your statement is based on people from your area locally then i would move...if its from people you have come into contact with whilst traveling then you have visited the wrong places....

maybe what you have stated can be true in some cases but in my experience its a very very small minority ......and thats based on the people i have come into contact with all around the globe from all walks of life....

A common greeting to a stranger such as bonjour or g'day or hi costs nothing ....its not as common for strangers to greet each other so much like this these days but when it does happen its normally just a friendly gesture.........and thats pretty much the flavour of this topic...

I find most R8 owners are welcoming and smile when they see me as R8s are still rare around here. But I have found the odd person who doesnt react at all. I think these people probably have 2 much money so the car doesnt mean that much to them.

Shocking. You think you have something in common because you own the same car?

Sure! At least enough in common to say hello. Its not like like lightninhopkins suggested they go away for the weekend. And isn't that why this forum even exists?

That said, there is a woman in my area that drives a white V8 R8 and she too seems totally oblivious to other R8's. I don't necessarliy think she is unfriendly as much as I think she may not appreciate the special car she is driving.
