R8 gets facelift at Geneva show in March

The current R8 is due for a facelift at the Geneva motor show in March. Aside from cosmetic upgrades, the biggest developments will be an increase in power of the base 4.2-litre V8 to 450bhp and the 5.2-litre V10 to 552bhp.
    A new dual-clutch seven-speed S-tronic gearbox will replace the current automated six-speeder.

You know what would be really awesome? If they also came out with a lightweight (GT) version for the V8. I think a lot of track heads would be all over it.

R8 is already too fragmented with 6 variants.

. . . and the 911 has >20 variants, so why is 6 too many? Doesn't that just make each variant more unique?
    Just curious.

Audi is better off spending their time making a GOOD UPDATES to the current R8, than just making variants of the old tired model, IMO. I'm waiting for the ONE good update, 6-8 versions of the current are not going get me to bite (again IMO). Add better navi, etc, not a lightweight GT V8 Spyder model. YMMV.
