Need advice - got into a fender bender. Should I sell or keep?

I sold my R8 for 107k a few weeks ago - The wire was en-route, so like an ahole I take the car for a last drive to run an errand.

I creep out of an alley and get hit at low speed. Nothing major but needs a new right front 1/4 panel and and some other misc parts. No frame damage/airbags ect.

The car is fixed and as new and already showing on Carfax as a collision.

Now that being said - it's an 09 10k miles , Audi care, warranty, 20k in mods ect ect.

Should I just keep it and use a my daily driver or can I get in the $90's for it and dump it.

I would think you'd be in the low $90k range for a documented collision. I'd hold on to it unless you're okay with taking a decent sized hit, but you might find someone in independent sale that doesn't care or know enough about the loss of value. Good luck with the sale.

I guess the big question is what do you have in mind as a replacement for the R8. I wouldn't get rid of the R8 if you don't have something better to jump into.

I guess at this point I am trying to figure out what it would be worth in a year or two? I don't see R8's even hit in the 60's for years... I could be wrong? I would guess at this point 10k a year deprecation saying the car might be worth 95k.

How was the accident picked up by Carfax? Were there any parts replaced? Does simply ordering paint assume a collision has occured?

By the way, I think the issue of repainting has been blown out of proportion. It's one thing to be in a collision and have structual damage, but a fender bender should be no cause for alarm, Carfax notwithstanding. Vintage cars, muscle cars sold at various auction houses around the country have, for the most part, been repainted. The issue is not the repainting, but the quality of the paintwork. Having your fender redone by a pro should not disappoint. That said, I recognize the market for some high end cars prefer all original paintwork. Having $20k in mods on a low mileage vehicle just might be enough to overcome any objection to Carfax. Give it a try before you cut loose.

If you like it, keep it. If you don't like it enough to keep it for a while, try to sell it for what you feel it's worth and to the right buyer it will sell likely.

If you can sell it for above 90k, then sell it asap, or be stuck with it. My buddy has a silver '09 w/ more options than yours and only 4k miles which sustained minor front quarter panel damage from getting side-swipped by a passing cab and he's still stuck with it.

His asking is $105k and he's been trying to unload since Feb and he constantly gets lowballed in the 80k range.

Fyi: anything Aluminum on R8s are "restricted" items and only select "Audi Aluminum Certified" shops can even order them, let alone work on the car (VIN matched only too btw so it'll probably show up on the service record of the car even if carfax doesn't show anything). Something I learned when I totaled my R8 (thank God!). And fyi: In the whole west coast there are only 2 places that are certified: Barsotti's in San Rafael and DC Autocraft in LA.
