We probably need to take it for entertainment value at this early stage.


Interesting that this article is also saying that the facelift model next year will receive a new R-TRONIC Seven Speed Transmission sourced from the Lambo Aventador as opposed to all other speculation and articles that it might receive a S-tronic.

Agree. While initially not a big fan of the side-blades, it has grown on me (a bit) and is a unique identifier of the R8. You would think if they truly are a 'signature' branding, Audi would carry it over in some form.

And, being able to see the engine under the rear glass just screams 'supercar.'

It's a bit reminiscent of Honda's HSC concept that had been touted as a design study for the replacement of the old NSX. At least the front 3/4 angle.

That car is sexy as hell, but it indeed doesn't have an R8 feel at all. They should call it the R9 or something. Glad I have a 2012 showing up soon, it might be the last gen of this body!

Sideblades are the R8 signature as oval headlights are to a 911. Thus the disapproval of the 996.
IMHO it would be a mistake to delete them.
