Test drives

Looking at used V10 R8s there isn't many that interest me within 500 miles. I'm a bit stuck in what to do as the two cars I like ones going on for 1500 miles away and the other is over 2000 miles away.

I know what the V10 drives like and feels like so thats not a problem tho I haven't really drove R tronic but in my head I'm thinking it would be stupid not to go see and test drive the car before handing over the money :S One cars at a audi dealer the other is a non franchised dealer.

Both dealers seem happy to ship or for me to fly in and drive the car back.

So when you buy a car do you always test drive or buy blind and go on the dealers word then have it shipped to you?

I'm not good at buying used cars new is so much easier

New is always easier.....There is plenty of 2011 out there that can be bought at a nice discount.
As of distance you can probably find a car guy here on the forum to check out for you as courtesy.
If you like anything here in the Philly Area i would check out for u .

To be honest with you im selling my GTR to gentlemen in Colorado and the only thing he said is take to dealer to look over and if checks out.... he will wire the money

I think many of us early purchasers were unable to drive the R8 before we purchased it. There were no used cars or demos to drive. If the car is in warranty the dealer should fix anything wrong, that is not wear related. My last three cars were purchased without driving them, A6, A8L and R8. I don't regret any of the purchases.

Yeah I guess you guys are right. My budget is far to low to pick up a new V10 could could just about get a V8 maybe.

But it looks like cheaper end of the V10 market The one car I was looking at has sold today not surprised as only had 2700 miles on when the other in that price range are 5k-12k millages

Agree with mngolfer, the audi warranty and listing descriptions would give me confidence to buy without a test drive.

If it sounds too good to be true; it normally is. Getting a PDI is a good idea even if buying from an Audi dealer. If it is from an Audi dealership insist on the extended warranty and for them to throw in Audicare as part of the deal. Lastly a round trip plane ticket is cheap insurance if you are worried in any way.

Yeah it seems a 2010 R8 low miles is around $140000 weather as a 2011 start at $145000+

I've found a car I'm very keen on as its only got 750 miles on the clock But really really not a silver fan but done a super quick photoshop with HRE wheels yellow callipers tinted windows. Think it looks pretty good
