    R8 V8 Pricing.

    Hello All.

I'm new to the forum and was looking at trying to get into a used R8 V8.

I'm seeing a few 08s and 09s for sale on autotrader in the 80s.

My question is, how much should i realisticly be spending on an 08 or 09?

What is the lowest price I can expect to see? Any help would be great. I don't need all the bells and whistles.

Note: with the anticipation of the next model year R8 on the horizon, would it be better to wait a bit?

    R-Ocho

I am in the same boat as you.. Don't need the V10 carbonfibered up version either. Never will push the car
or better yet me to the limit any way. My thoughts are as follows:

    1. In my opinion the used car pricing is too close to what you can get a 2011 for now. There are deals out there
since 2012 are in production. Why settle for a used R8 with an unknown past (just look at youtube for evidence)
when you can get new and options you want or don't want.

    2. The pending facelift we will see mid this year should, depending on what Audi does to this beautiful car, effect
the pricing of the used 2008-2010.

    3. The new model 2014 to be released in fall of 2013 is probably too far in the future for me to wait, but if by late
2012 if a reliable release of the second generation is released and looks great,.... well then either you fork up for
the R8-2 or grab a really good deal on a first generation R8.

I have other 'second' cars now that I drive when the weather and urge is right. Have my sights on the R8 but can
play the waiting game as long as I feel is right.

All depends on what you want and when.

    Good luck

yeah, I've also noticed that 08 and 09 pricing is still somewhat close to what the 10s and new 11s are going for. Why is that?

I think because in 08 & 09, people paid a huge premium over sticker to get these R8s.......

Make sure to inspect the vehicle you are interested in. Many moons ago, I took the word from an East Coast dealer that the Fcar is "perfect" and did not do a ppi or even take a look at it. When the vehicle arrived, I was horrified with the extensive list...to name a few:

3 out of 4 wheels were curbed
The driver's side bolsters were scuffed pretty bad (from the owner not careful getting in and out of the car)
    Driver's side mirror was loose
The clear bra they had "included" for me was bubbling in multiple areas
Deep, down to the primer, scratches on the rear quarter panels
.....you get the idea. It took me over a month of going back and forth. They finally decided to pick up the car and refund my money. Worst mistake ever made.

My advice is to be sure you look at the car and do not take the word of the owner or ESPECIALLY the dealer. I hate to generalize, but I have met very few in the car sales business that are not "car salesmen".

Wheels is a good sign. Ask dealer to put the car up and look under it. Some scuffs on lip front are hard to avoid but if clean that means clean owner. Also check inside edges of wheel. If scratched the prev owner used a car wash. Not a good sign IMHO.
