    Day time running light question???

In most of the videos I have seen, the R8 during the day, has those small 24 leds on below the headlights.Since I just got my car I decided to look and might are not on during the day.The only way they come on is if you turn on the parking lights or regular lights. Is that normal or can you set it up where those small leds come on during the day? Thank you.

From the factory they come on when you start your car. Did you purchase your car new? If not someone may have changed the Vagcom setting. Your R8 dealer should be able to get it reset very quickly.

I bought the car brand new...do I need to have the light switch on auto for the small leds to work during they day or that does not matter. In other words those small leds should be on all the time?

Thanks V10...So when you have the lights set to auto the small leds are on during the day but not the main headlights. Then when it gets dark enough the main headlights come on.Is the correct?

I just went out to the car and set the light switch to the 12 o'clock '0' position and my fairy lights stayed on. I thought that you couldn't turn them off whilst the ignition was on, but could be wrong.

There might be a difference between the Euro & US spec cars. On my car all lights are off if the switch is at the 12 o'clock position.

US cars are different in this respect. That's why all US cars that are imported into Canada need to have their DRL settings changed to meet Canadian legislation, which seems to be more consistent with most European countries.

Re: Day time running light question???

    In the UK:

on 2008 v8, there was a menu entry for the daytime running lights in the DIS menu where it could be enabled or disabled - when enabled they'd be always on including at 0.

On the v10, I'm sure I looked and that option wasn't there and it has to be in auto to have them on. If I have my lights set to 0, the DRL's are off on the v10.
