    Re-Trim

OK problem with buying from a book is you dont really get to live with the decisions before you make them.
Regretting not getting extended leather. Has anyone had things like the monopost/knee pads cluster cover trimmed in leather post build?

How hard is it to remove the monopost?

    Re: Re-Trim

Removing the monoposto ring is pretty much a full dash disassembly. There are three 6mm nuts that require standing on your head, whilst working under the dash. They are semi-impossible to reach and will require lots of swearing, sweating and at least two bloody knuckles to remove/install.

It can be done, but make sure you have someone that knows the car inside and out do the work - go hire your local R8 tech and have him do this on the side. Minimum 3 hrs, probably more like 4-5 to get it done.

I'm with Kfab on this one .. it's best to hire an R8 tech or even an R8 experienced body shop (that's who I had do mine, and they had just done it for someone else like a month earlier so they were familiar with the process). It's not a fun process, but it's not impossible either.

Kfab, does this mean that one can replace the dash and other parts with full leather?

There's no reason you can't replace any part of the car you want, it's only a question of part cost, and work time (cost).

    Re: Re-Trim

I've looked up the part costs and it comes to 000s
Frankly i can't believe what Audi are charging for parts.
A front grill on any other Audi car is £200 tops, on the R8 £800,more for the GT one.
Rear defuser is about the same - for plastic.

Cheaper to sell the car and buy a new one.
