    Looking at an 09 R8 4.2

Hello! First post, been lurking for a while. Looking at an 09 R8 from a private party. Car has had three owners, 8800 miles. Current owner has had the full inspection done by Audi within the last year. Price is less than $110K. Car is fully loaded w/premium, B&O, full leather, full carbon including blade and engine. Any advice appreciated. Thank you

Go for it...and take it to the track. You will smile every time you think of those days the rest of your life, or at least I do.

Is the asking price just below $110K or the 'sale' price ? Why 3 previous owners, you would be #4 right? Seems like this car
has been flipped quite a bit for a 3 year old car... If you looked at a V8 6MT 2012 priced out with leather, Convenience Package, and
SAT/NAV/Ipod, and $650 for paint option...(no carbon) the MSRP would be $125,400. That's before you negotiate with the dealer and get
about 5% off bringing it down to $119K range.

Now you have a 2012 model, brand new and not an unknown history of how the car was treated in the past.

Better yet wait until June of this year and see what the enhancements will be regarding the facelift the car
    will receive.

My 2 cents, but you asked....

    Good luck with your decision.

Asking price does seem too high. Strange about the ownership on such a low mileage car?

    Re: Looking at an 09 R8 4.2

    Hi all

I have been researching and shopping for an 08/09 R8 also.

A couple of points from my experiences

    - Sometimes carfax on ownership can be misleading as in some cases the owner may have moved the car between homes/states and retitled.
    - My research reflects that 80% nice cars with less than 15k miles end up selling for 09s- higher 90s and 08s - lowers 90s. There are of course excpetions. Frankly, unless there is something very unique about the 09 you are looking at I believe $110 is high.
    - With a car like the one you are looking at find out where the owners were located. If all over the country then I would seriously have the undercarriage and suspension checked as the car has been moved and it would be uncertain how. Meaning that if it was thrown on an open new-car-haul-away, it was chained down. These and most exotic cars must be secured with over the tire straps. I looked at a couple of cars that moved around and they had under carriage damage.

    Just my $.02

    Best

    Jeff

Thanks for the advice. I would agree that the $110Kish price is too high. I have had a conversation with the owner, car started in Oregon, then Scottsdale, now Texas. I have not personally looked at the vehicle but will probably pass. Keeping my eyes open locally and on the forum. Thanks again. Bill

Roadking, I agreee with the other posts. We were in the same situation, buy used with low mileage at the price of almost new. I have the 2012 V8 6MT, with leather, Nav, didn't go with the Bose system don't need 550watts I want to be able to here the motor that is better music. We paid 118K. If you go the used route I was at the Audi dealer became good buddies with the R8 Tech. He was working on a 2008 V8 Daily driver with 53k on it and tracks it. The only issues were 3 sets of brakes and couple sets of tires. Either way the it will be a great choise.

How much is a new R8 4.2 in the US anyway? I keep reading US members here mentioning great incentives that are available south of the border. Might as well just buy a new one (as some of the folks here are saying).

My advice is to purchase one with some warranty remaining. Even better if its CPO.

The number of previous owners would concern me. Think about how that would affect resale value.
