I do miss the R8

Well, thanks to this great forum I've been able to pass on most of my aftermarket pieces onto other members here and I'm really happy to to hear that everyone is enjoying them. And I want to say, it's been really difficult for me to part with them because in doing so, I had completely closed any possibility of getting another R8.

Before I started packing everything I had really lost interest in trying to pick up another R8, but once everything was packed and I was chatting with the various folks who were buying them from me, a great feeling of sadness/remorse sort of hit me...I almost didn't want to ship the parts out. But I kept telling myself that it was time to let go and move on.

I hope the new owners of my pieces enjoy them for many many years to come and I want to take a chance to thank everyone here for all the learnings during my time of ownership and of course R8Talk for being such a resourceful site for everything R8.

Alwin, I may be moving on from R8 ownership (for now) as well, but plan on checking in here on the usual daily basis as always. Did you end up getting that Scud we discussed?

No, the cover story I've been told by the dealership is that someone from Texas walked in and bought it outright for a bit more. I felt cheated but it's ok, I've moved on from that too lol.

I guess the positive is it allows others to more easily partake in R8 ownership.

I've been considering selling mine as well, but then those moments come when I take it out and it's just a joy to drive. Couple that with the fact that I think Audi will botch the next R8 visually (as well as underwhelming performance) and I think my little V8 may be worth something down the line... If the rust, spiders and rodents don't get to it first!

It's with a heavy heart that I'm selling my R8 as well. Great car!! Awesome performance and everyday drivability, plus reliable... Hard to beat! I too have the feeling Audi will ruin the car.
I just need to make room in the garage and hope the replacement will be all this and more.
