I would be surprised if they put in a DCT in the alleged facelifted R8 that would be on the market for basically 1.5 years.

For me, sideblades are a defining design element of the R8. Without them, it's not an R8.
I think that's why I don't particular care for the Spyder.
2009 Phantom Black R8 with carbon fiber blades, R tronic
2010 Ice Silver Metalic S4, S tronic, all the goodies
2011 Sparkling Bronze Metalic X5 3.5
if they have it ready to go and with no packaging issues with either the current r8 or the new model then I could see the sense in them looking for a late shot in the arm for the current model as it does its swan song. it might get them a bit more short-term interest from those who see dual clutch as a must have - and I can't see how it would affect sales of the new model by doing it on the current model run-out.I would be surprised if they put in a DCT in the alleged facelifted R8 that would be on the market for basically 1.5 years.
I'm still not sold on the idea that they will go dual clutch over ISR, but that will get settled with official announcements rather than magazines trying to get eyeballs and coin from rumor and artists impressions.
Tired of trolls and fantasists

They are talking about the new car not the face lift.
Cant see major changes like Gearboxes and MMI systems hitting the face lift. I'd guess it will be a bumper change, maybe a few bits from the GT thrown on it and a colour or two.
Coupe/spyder - spyder looks much better to me for not having the side-blades, but that's why Audi offer both models, so you can choose...!
"The R8 is due to be replaced with a brand new model in calendar year 2014. The highest output version of Audi's new 4.0 liter V8 twin-turbocharged engine is expected to power the new car. This engine is scheduled to be previewed as a detuned version in the 2012 Audi S8—with 518 hp (386 kW) on tap. In the R8 application it is expected to produce about 600 hp. Combined with an approximate 200 lb (91 kg) weight loss, the new R8 is expected to compete well with the new Porsche 997 twin turbo model and will likely perform significantly better than the current R8 GT with a 0–60 mph time in 3.2 seconds and a quarter mile in less than 11 seconds. A dual clutch automated gearbox will be offered for the first time."
I like to think that the gtr is forcing others to step up their value for money game.
looks like its not a big change - bumpers and lights only.

"The 2013 Audi R8 is expected to be revealed at this years Paris Motor Show in September. The small updates will see the R8 through to 2014 when it is expected to be replaced by a second generation model. Among the changes that we can’t see for the 2013 R8, improvements will be made to the chassis, power will be boosted to 540hp for the V10 model and a new seven-speed R-Tronic will debut. Expect this to be a single clutch unit produced by Graziano and based on the transmission from the Aventador.
As for the 2014 Audi R8, Audi are expected to develop an aluminium and carbon fiber platform. Carbon fiber will be used for the rear firewall, the transmission tunnel and the B-posts. Weight will be 100kg less and the body will be 13 percent stiffer. The V10 will get a 550hp figure, whilst the V8 will a 450hp power rating. Alternatively, Audi may choose to replace the V10 with the brand new turbocharged 4.0 liter V8 used in the new Bentley Continental GT V8 and the Audi S8. If so, expect around 600hp."

One aspect of the R8 I have always liked is the shape of the front lights, what a shame the new car has lost these
Looking forward to the 2014 model, but in the meantime look forward to seeing Matte Sapang Blue on the facelift.
