See you later, But not goodbye

After several great years, it's time to move on from my beloved R8. If enjoyed the car beyond belief and have nothing but good things to say. Great performance, road manners and reliability. Over the last few months I've been debating whether to supercharge, turbocharge or go to V10. My final decision was to try something different.
So the R8 is sold and gone, and the new toy is home.
As for this forum... Great gathering of guys. Always very helpful and informative. I never was a huge poster, but definitely a huge reader. This will continue sporadically.

BTW, my cover is still for sale here: COVER IS SOLD

Congrats, i would be interested to here how it performs as was only chatting on another thread the other day that summer of next year i will be looking at something different and was considering putting down a order for the maclaren. Being a F1 fan here in UK and following the maclarens for 25-ish years (am i that old!) ... it would cap it off and taking it down to Silverstone onto the track would be something

Re: See you later, But not goodbye

I think the reason I was attracted to the Mclaren is that it's very R8-like. Everyday driveability, comfortable, well-built, and not overly "showy" (a la Lambo or Ferrari). Though I may have misjudged the last one for the Mclaren... the attention it gets is insane compared to the R8.
Performance is quite different coming from the V8 R8. The Mac is insanely fast! Great steering and feels much lighter (which it is). More of a race car feel. Tight cabin and minimalistic interior. I have been surprised as to how quiet and smooth it is, again very R8 like.
My cousin has a 430 scud and there's an absolute night and day difference in this regard. Maybe that's why the press thinks it's "unexciting" and has no "fizz". Same critizism, btw, the R8 got. I guess that says something about my personality.
So far I'm thrilled with my upgrade. We'll se how reliable it is. I was definitely spoiled with the R8.

Congratulations! I tried the Mac last September but the pit was just too tight for my liking. I am interested to see how reliable that one will show over the next couple of years - enjoy!

Great car! I think it's a very logical step up from an R8. Congratulations.
