I updated last week a thread I started several years ago in this forum (Why I may still buy an R8...(long)). Now that there is a new Audi dealer in my area, I decided to test drive a new R8 to see how I felt about the car at the present time. So today I drove a manual v10 coupe currently for sale at the dealership. It was the first time I drove a stick shift R8. Back in 2010, every vehicle we drove at the R8 Driving Experience at Infineon was a R-Tronic. The shifting was smooth and I was able to 'glide' into each gate without trouble. All of my Porsches, plus the new Mini JCW, are manuals so it was all very familiar. The roar of the engine and sound of the exhaust were magnificent! I stayed on the softest shock setting on the 'magnetic ride' to see how it felt in city streets, which seemed more comfortable than the standard non-PASM sport suspension on my Boxster Spyder. Overall, I was still very impressed with the R8 and would not mind having one in my collection.
By the way, Audi of Monterey has decided to blow-out the one remaining MY2011 v10 coupe in their inventory. This might be of interest to one of you in this forum. It is a 5/11 production date car, so a fairly recent built. Brand new, with less than 200 miles on the odo. It has the rare Titanium Package. There is $20K reduction in price from its MSRP of $162,155. Had this type of deal been available back in 2010, I would be today the owner of an R8 v10! Contact Davin Sanford at (831) 392-0445 or <dsanford@cardinaleway.com> if interested in this vehicle.
