New 'Left-Over' MY2011 R8 v10 Coupe R available at great price in Monterey, CA!

I updated last week a thread I started several years ago in this forum (Why I may still buy an R8...(long)). Now that there is a new Audi dealer in my area, I decided to test drive a new R8 to see how I felt about the car at the present time. So today I drove a manual v10 coupe currently for sale at the dealership. It was the first time I drove a stick shift R8. Back in 2010, every vehicle we drove at the R8 Driving Experience at Infineon was a R-Tronic. The shifting was smooth and I was able to 'glide' into each gate without trouble. All of my Porsches, plus the new Mini JCW, are manuals so it was all very familiar. The roar of the engine and sound of the exhaust were magnificent! I stayed on the softest shock setting on the 'magnetic ride' to see how it felt in city streets, which seemed more comfortable than the standard non-PASM sport suspension on my Boxster Spyder. Overall, I was still very impressed with the R8 and would not mind having one in my collection.

By the way, Audi of Monterey has decided to blow-out the one remaining MY2011 v10 coupe in their inventory. This might be of interest to one of you in this forum. It is a 5/11 production date car, so a fairly recent built. Brand new, with less than 200 miles on the odo. It has the rare Titanium Package. There is $20K reduction in price from its MSRP of $162,155. Had this type of deal been available back in 2010, I would be today the owner of an R8 v10! Contact Davin Sanford at (831) 392-0445 or <dsanford@cardinaleway.com> if interested in this vehicle.

$20,000 and they are still making money?!

    Good to know!

I was told that there was only a $14,000 leeway off of the MSRP.

Similar story here. My R8V10 spyder 6 speed was a 2011 new leftover with 160 miles on it. I got the car for 20K under MSRP.
Bought the car about one month ago and with the warm winter, put 1000 miles on it going nowhere. Never owned any car that excites me this much. I might have finally found a cure for Porschitis.

I don't think anyone is claiming they are making any money on the sale of this particular R8! The sales manager informed me that they just don't want to continue paying finance charges for keeping this '11 v10 coupe any longer in inventory. But there may be some 'trunk money', or some other subsidy that Audi corporate, which might have been thrown their way that allows this dealer some additional margin, besides the difference between MSRP and Invoice, to soften the blow of this substantial $20,000 discount!

Back in 2010 when I was seriously considering buying an R8 I did a lot of research on the matter of pricing & discounts. Two of my threads were even deemed topical enough to be included in sticky at the top of this forum. Both are found in section #7 under 'Introduction and Roadmap to R8Talk.com". I already mentioned the one entitled 'Why I may still buy a R8". Here is the other one entitled 'Discounts on R8' at the following link:

    Discounts on R8

This old reading will give you an idea of how limited discounts were available back then. The climate for successful negotiations re: pricing is much improved at the present time for a variety of reasons which should be obvious to most - a degree of market saturation for the model, an updated R8 platform on the horizon and additional competition from other sport cars in the marketplace! All are positive for us as consumers.

The climate has changed for the R8. Pre-owned / new are not holding up as well. I currently have my R8 on consignment at a dealer so I now have a very clear idea of what they are going for. Hard for the pre-owned to hold up when dealers are discounting them like this for a new vehicle.
