Is the Bang & Olufsen Worth $1800

You can get a pretty nice aftermarket stereo for $1800. Is the Bang & Olufsen upgrade worth it over the stock stereo system?

My order is already in, but I have been going back and forth as to whether this was worth my coin.

    thanks.

I got the V10... so it comes standard with it where I live (Canada).

I heard to standard stock system on a V8 and it is quite good actually...

But the greatest sound system on these cars are behind the back window !!!

The B&O option is NOT a waste of money, but it really depends on what kind of person you are, and what kind of music you listen to. I personnally wouldn't have chosen this option if it didn't come standard. My stereo is off more than 50% of the time, and I often listen to radio.

I have the stock in mine- and it's actually wonderful. I listen to mostly electric and hip-hop, and it does great. However, the B&O is great if loudness and clarity are your focuses. However my favorite sound system is the 4.2 behind me!

I agree that the best sound of all comes from the V8.

When buying a car like this, you've got to realize that certain things will cost more "just because." The B&O is pretty good and is worth it.

But if you are into aftermarket stereo mods (the horror!), or if all you listen to is talk radio, you can skip it.

I haven't heard the stock one, but the B&O still sounds good even with the top down at speed. Plenty of volume, and still very clear.

I have it in mine and I'm somewhat disappointed. For the extra price, I thought it would be a lot better. Maybe I need to have it checked the next time it's serviced.

For $1800 it's probably fair value. I think you'd want to pay 3 times that much to take the base system to a level you'd notice as much superior to the B&O (I can't remember the last time I made it out of a high-end stereo system upgrade shop with one of my sports cars for less than $6K :-)).

Re: Is the Bang & Olufsen Worth $1800

My opinion is that it's good enough (the B/O). I used to customize all of my stereos but then realized it's just a real pain on resale value and to "undo" for that buyer that wants the car as it's originally built. So now I just opt for the stereo upgrades, and try to keep the car in a condition where anything I do to make it custom, can be easily undone with little hassle. On a car like this, I stuck with the B/O and it's fine.

For the times I feel like listening to music I find the B&O system fine. I always pick the best available system offered since I have no desire to start ripping apart a new car to install a custom radio.
